Healthwatch Herefordshire shortlisted for national award

The team at Healthwatch Herefordshire have been shortlisted for a national award. The National Healthwatch Impact Award recognises outstanding examples of where the views of local people have been used to make positive changes to local NHS and social care services.

18 projects across the Healthwatch network have been shortlisted with Healthwatch Herefordshire's Digital Inclusion Project being one of them.

Providing a free digital device, connection, and tailored support, our Digital Inclusion Project helped participants with technical difficulties, limited skills, and emotional barriers to get online to enhance their health and wellbeingThe work enabled participants to benefit from all services which offer digital appointments, monitoring, support, information, and courses.

The report has also been valuable to the ICS Digital Advisory Group and wider partners. The report findings also influenced scoping of the Managing Heart Failure at Home project regarding digital monitoring and technologies.

Over a million people a year either seek advice from Healthwatch or share their care experience. And, every year, there are thousands of examples of where this feedback has been used by services to make positive changes to health and care. Getting shortlisted for our national impact award is no mean feat. It means that your work has made a
real difference for local communities, often amid ongoing challenges facing health and care services.”

Louise Ansari, Chief Executive of Healthwatch England

Finding out that our Digital Inclusion Project has been shortlisted for a national award is a real pat on the back. The project relied on 1-1 engagement where we invested a great deal of time over a 12 month period getting to know participants in order to understand their specific digital needs. This enabled us to identify how we could help them become digitally included in a very tailored way.
